Bank drafts, that are often called a certified checks (in the USA) means that  after examining the checking account bank  guarantees that there are sufficient funds to pay for the check when it is cashed.

Cashier’s Check

Cashier’s checks are very similar to bank drafts; certified checks or cashier’s checks even take the place of bank drafts in the USA. The term “cashier’s checks” is more often used in the USA. The remitter buys a cashier’s check. He or she purchases the checks directly from the bank; in such way bank guarantees that the funds are available. Instead of using the remitter’s own funds the bank is paying for the check with cash it received from the remitter.

Bank Drafts

A type of check that is made out to a specific amount is called a bank draft. Person requesting the check can specify bank draft to be sure that in the checking account is enough money to make the transaction. to make sure that there are enough funds for the check the bank that reviews the account. Then bank seals or sets aside those funds. So customer cannot use them for anything else. So if the check is issued to the person, it means that he or she has enough money to pay for the check.

Personal Checks

You don’t need to request bank for personal checks to receive them. Writing the check you specify the amount, and when check is electrically sent or cashed by hand, bank is just made aware of it. They review the account and draw out the necessary funds.

Uses

There is no danger that they will bounce and return money like a personal check, because bank drafts represent money specifically set aside. When there is doubt that an individual can make a payment, bank drafts are requested. Bank drafts are requested when very large amounts of money are exchanging.

Check Draft

Don’t confuse the term “check draft” with “bank draft”. A check draft is also called a demand draft. It’s just a draft of a check created by the merchant in place of a personal check. You may need it when paying for items by check online or over the phone.
